Penn Dental Medicine Expands Digital Education Resources with DSDApp
“Philadelphia – As part of the School’s Digital Innovation Initiative, Penn Dental Medicine announces the launch of a collaboration with DSDApp by Coachman that will expand the School’s digital education and patient care resources. Beginning this fall, DSDApp’s digital smile design software will be incorporated into a new course on esthetic and advanced restorative dentistry, introducing students to another tool for their digital treatment planning.
“Our goal is teach our students with the most advanced digital tools to adequately prepare them for this new era of dentistry and this will be one more addition to that arsenal,” says Dr. Markus B. Blatz, Chairman, Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences and Assistant Dean for Digital Innovation and Professional Development.
Both predoctoral and postdoctoral students within the School will be given access to the demo portion of DSDApp, which will enable them to learn about dentofacial esthetic parameters and how to design new smiles digitally on their mobile devices.
“We are very excited to be working with Penn Dental Medicine and the students and faculty members involved in this initiative,” says CEO and Co-Founder, Ralph Georg. “Penn Dental Medicine has taken notable steps to integrate digital dentistry into their students’ curriculum, so this aligns naturally with our goals to share and spread the benefits of digital technology in everyday workflows.”
Penn Dental Medicine has incorporated digital dentistry and digital workflow across the School through its Digital Innovation Initiative, which included the opening of two state-of-the-art facilities last academic year — its Digital Design and Milling Center and the Center for Virtual Treatment Planning.
In addition, Penn Dental Medicine has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School (2019-2022) for its digital learning technologies that are transforming the way it delivers dental education.”
